How LegalCV works
LegalCV is a free Canadian legal resume formatter for articling, summer student, clerkship, in-house, and associate applications. No account is required.
1. Upload
Choose a PDF or DOCX (up to 10 MB). We validate the file type and size in your browser, then extract the text locally before anything leaves your device.
2. Parse Canadian legal credentials
Extracted text is sent through our Supabase Edge Function to OpenAI, which structures your content into a resume schema. The prompt is tuned for Canadian legal patterns such as bar admissions, NCA, dual degrees (for example BCL/LL.B.), articling, and summer student roles. The model may miss or misread details — always review the output.
3. Pick a style
Choose classic, modern, and/or minimal. These are typography and layout variants, not practice-area marketplaces. They aim for clean section order and readable fonts preferred in conservative legal hiring screens.
4. Optional recruiting share
You can skip this step. If you opt in, you consent to store your name, email, and original resume for recruiting contact. Formatting alone does not create a recruiting profile.
5. Download
Preview and download PDF copies generated in your browser. Review every line before you apply.
Who it is for
- Law students preparing articling or summer applications
- NCA candidates organizing Canadian-facing materials
- Associates and clerks who need a cleaner ATS-oriented PDF
What it is not
- Not a substitute for career-office or mentor advice
- Not a writing or experience-invention service
- Not a guarantee of interviews, ATS pass rates, or recruiter relationships
