    Privacy Notice

LegalCV (mylegalresume.com) formats legal resumes without requiring an account. This notice describes what we collect, why, where it is stored, and how to reach us for access or deletion requests under Canadian privacy expectations (including PIPEDA principles).

    What we collect

    • Resume formatting: text extracted in your browser from the PDF or DOCX you select. The original file is not uploaded for formatting alone.
    • Optional recruiting profile: only if you choose “Share With Recruiting” — your name, email, consent/recruiter-ready flag, and original resume file stored in a private bucket, plus related metadata our systems need to process the submission.
    • Technical and abuse-prevention data: basic request information such as IP address (hashed for rate limits), timestamps, and security logs needed to operate the Edge Functions.
    • Cookies / ads: Google Ads (gtag) and site-verification tags may set or read cookies or similar identifiers for advertising measurement. See Google’s policies for how that vendor processes data.

    Why we use it

    • To structure and return a formatted resume you request
    • To prevent abuse (size limits and rate limits)
    • If you opt in — to evaluate recruiting interest and contact you about legal roles
    • To measure ads conversions where the Google tag is present

    OpenAI and model training

Resume text for formatting is sent through our secure backend to OpenAI, which acts as a service provider for this feature. We do not use your resume to train our own models. We do not sell your resume content. OpenAI’s use of API inputs is governed by OpenAI’s terms and data policies for API customers; we configure the Service so formatting is a processing task, not a product-training feed on our side.

    Where data is stored

Application data and optional recruiting files are stored using Supabase (database and private object storage). Infrastructure may process data in Canada or other jurisdictions depending on your project configuration and subprocessors (including OpenAI). Service providers may process data outside Canada; by using the Service you understand that cross-border processing may occur.

    Who can access recruiting data

Optional recruiting profiles and private resume objects are readable only by operators who are explicitly listed as admins. Ordinary authenticated accounts are not admins. Formatting-only use does not create a recruiting profile or store your original file.

    Retention and deletion

Formatting requests are processed to produce your result and to enforce rate limits; we do not keep your original file for formatting-only use. Optional recruiting profiles and stored resumes are retained while they remain useful for recruiting or until you request deletion, subject to legal and security requirements. There is no automatic file TTL in the current product configuration — deletion of recruiting data is handled on request.

To request access to, correction of, or deletion of a recruiting profile, email privacy@mylegalresume.com. We aim to respond within a reasonable time.

    Your choices

You can use the formatter and skip recruiting entirely. Upload consent references these Terms and this Privacy Notice near the dropzone.

    Children / students

The Service is aimed at adults pursuing legal education or legal employment. It is not directed at children under 13. Law students of typical university age may use the Service for their own application materials.
